2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a fully redesigned midsize SUV offered in five trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit. Jeep also delivers the Grand Cherokee L, featuring a third row of seating sold as a different model. The base Laredo trim's standard exterior features include heated side mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and roof rails.

The Limited trim adds larger 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, and a power liftgate as standard. If you plan to tackle the trails, check out the Trailhawk trim. Discover upgraded tires, an electric rear limited-slip differential, front tow hooks, and an electronically disconnecting stabilizer bar. In contrast, the Overland trim adds a two-speed transfer case, a panoramic sunroof, and 20-inch wheels. The top trim offers a glossy-black roof and a few styling flourishes.

Jeep offers three powertrain options on the 2022 Grand Cherokee. The standard unit on all trims is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that makes 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The upper four trims are available with the 4xe powertrain, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain rated at 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. You can also upgrade the upper three trims to include a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that produces 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

All three engines work with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Models with the V-6 engine come standard with rear-wheel drive, although four-wheel drive is an available upgrade. If you choose the V-8 or 4xe powertrain, your Jeep Grand Cherokee will include four-wheel drive as standard.

If power and speed are your main priorities, the V-8 engine is the most capable of the bunch. However, the 4xe powertrain is the best option to conserve fuel. This model handles well in all driving conditions with lightweight and precise steering. Jeep also offers several four-wheel-drive systems to accommodate all drivers, including one with terrain-based driving modes.

The cabin of the Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers plenty of space for up to five passengers, along with a roomy cargo area. Base trim features include cloth upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control. When you get behind the wheel, you'll appreciate additional features such as a six-speaker audio system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration and an 8.4-inch touch screen. The Limited trim adds a power-adjustable passenger seat, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats.

Both the Trailhawk and Overland trims include ventilated front seats and a premium sound system. Navigation and upgraded upholstery with faux suede accents further complement the design. Choose the top Summit trim, and your model will include four-zone climate control and massaging front seats. You'll also appreciate the larger 10.1-inch touch screen and a wood-trimmed steering wheel.

Every 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes well-equipped with active and passive driver aids. The suite of active safety features includes rear parking sensors with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
