Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is a capable SUV in two body styles: two-door and four-door models. You'll find that the two-door version comes in three trim levels: Sport, Sport S, and Rubicon. In contrast, the four-door version is the Unlimited and has the same three trim levels, plus a fourth called the Sahara. Jeep also offers sub-trim levels, such as Willys Sport, Willys, High Altitude, Sport Altitude, Sahara Altitude, and Sport RHD. Each sub-trim has distinctive accents.
Exterior equipment on the base Sport trim includes crank windows, fog lights, skid plates, and tow hooks. The Sport S trim adds alloy wheels, and the Sahara delivers body-color fender flares, a complementary grille, and 18-inch wheels. Choose the Rubicon trim to get electronic locking front and rear differentials, heavy-duty front and rear axles, all-terrain tires, and rock rails.
Engine (Power)
With the base trim of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler, a 3.6-liter V-6 engine comes standard. This engine delivers 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and it pairs with your choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Jeep also offers several other engine options, but both work only with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The first is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
Next is an optional 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 unit, delivering 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. The Rubicon 392 sub-trim level has a 6.4-liter V-8 engine with 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Both options are available only with the four-door body style. The final option is a plug-in hybrid powertrain called the 4xe.
Performance
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler beats out its competition with ease for off-roading. The Rubicon is the most well-equipped vehicle for this level of driving with its enhanced off-road-ready features. This SUV also features a solid-axle suspension and body-on-frame construction, which provide better control over the steering and handling when you're tackling rough terrain.
The Jeep Wrangler doesn't handle as well on the road, but the part-time, four-wheel-drive system offers a slightly more comfortable ride than the full-time system.
Interior
Climb into the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sport cabin to find cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, an eight-speaker sound system with a 5-inch touch screen, and manual climate control. Options on the higher trims include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and power accessories.
