Indianapolis has a first-class specialty coffee scene, including some great roasters and some of the best coffee shops in the country grinding and brewing their beans. There are so many amazing spots to choose from that it can be genuinely bewildering, but if you stick with us you cannot fail to find one of the best cups of coffee in Indy.
1. Tinker Coffee at The Amp
Tinker Coffee is one of the premier roasters in the city and, since their founding in 2014, have become one of the cornerstones of the specialty coffee scene in Indianapolis. Tinker Coffee at The Amp is their flagship café and can be found in the Riverside neighborhood right on the banks of the White River in a converted water treatment plant. For us, this is the number one spot to grab a cup of guaranteed excellence in one of the most atmospheric sites in the city.
2. The Library Coffee Bar
If you are wanting to pitch up with your laptop and get some work done whilst enjoying a top-quality brew The Library Coffee Bar is another very safe bet. Inside the Indianapolis Art Center in the Ruth Lilly Library, you will find yourself steeped in culture in an inspiring yet tranquil setting. To top the experience off you will also find an exquisite coffee here, roasted at Tinker Coffee and prepared for you by some of Indy’s top baristas.
3. Bee Coffee Roasters: Roastery
Bee Coffee Roasters is one of the original and best-established specialty coffee roasters in Indianapolis, having first set up in 2007. On Lafayette Road in Eagle Creek, this coffee shop can be found in their first roastery, so you can watch the magic happen and be surrounded by the beautiful aroma of roasting coffee while you enjoy your brew. The owners are bona fide experts in their trade and have been a driving force in the industry since its early days. They have also managed to cultivate a warm and friendly atmosphere in their coffee shop where you cannot help but feel welcome.
4. Dry Bones Mud House
This is another coffee shop serving Tinker Coffee and, as with almost all of the other cafés where you will find Tinker Coffee, there is a real fanaticism about perfect coffee here. What sets Dry Bones Mud House apart is its enormous workspace in the lobby of Union 525. There is no need to ever feel rushed to drink up and move on here, no matter how busy they get.
5. Provider
Provider is simply one of the coolest places to hang out in Indianapolis. Its location in the Downtown neighborhood coupled with its late evening opening hours make it the perfect place to meet friends before heading out for dinner. On top of their fantastic coffee offering, coming from roasters such as Ruby Roasters and (again) Tinker Coffee, they have a wonderful cocktail menu to be enjoyed responsibly and never whilst driving.
With such an impressive selection of coffee places spread around Indianapolis, you are sure to need a car to get you around them all! To take a look and test drive one of our new and used cars, come down to Tom O’Brien CJDR today.
