2019 Dodge Charger in Indianapolis, INAfter all these years, the Dodge Charger is still one of the top choices for drivers who want a performance sedan. Its sleek retro look, powerful engine under the hood and spacious cabin make this a versatile vehicle that is an all-American favorite. The 2019 model received some tweaks to the exterior style and some upgrades to the interior, and it also has some new trim level names and features. It comes in five main trim levels, and here is some information to help you decide which one is the best for you.

The SXT

The entry-level SXT starts the lineup off with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that generates 292 horsepower. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, 17-inch wheels, and rear-wheel drive. This trim is the only Charger model that offers the option for all-wheel drive, and with it, you get an upgraded version of the engine that produces 300 horsepower.

The GT

The GT trim comes with much of the same equipment as the SXT all-wheel-drive, but it is only available with rear-wheel-drive. This Charger gets Dodge’s enhanced steering system, paddle shifters, and a revised suspension. It also has 20-inch wheels and some styling upgrades. Inside the GT and the SXT with AWD, you’ll get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and two USB ports. Passengers sit in seats with more bolstering, and you can choose between satin carbon wheels or black wheels.

The R/T

Choose the R/T for the same equipment as the GT, but you get a larger 5.7-liter V-8 engine that produces 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. The R/T also comes with the same aggressively styled hood that you get with the GT along with the same houndstooth seats, and the same technology. The only real difference between the R/T and the GT is the engine.

The R/T Scat Pack

Moving up a trim, the Scat Pack Charger has even more power with its 6.4-liter V-8 engine that generates 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. This model also adds high-performance Brembo brakes, a launch-control switch on the dashboard, and a line-lock function. Inside, it has Scat Pack bee logos, and Dodge offers the option for dual carbon stripes and a satin black hood.

The SRT Hellcat

If the Scat Pack doesn’t have enough power for you, then there is the Hellcat. This Charger has a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that will get 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It comes with an upgraded steering system, an upgraded suspension, and almost all of the options from the rest of the trims. To set the cabin apart, the instrument panel in the Hellcat has different badges, and a newly available package will wrap pieces of the interior in a microsuede. On the outside, you get the option to add 20-inch forged Brass Monkey wheels.

Each of the 2019 Dodge Charger trims has something to offer. With multiple engines available the higher up you move in the lineup the more power you can get.
