2019 Jeep Compass in Indianapolis INThe Jeep Compass sits in the compact SUV market. It has a surprising amount of space in the cabin for a small vehicle, and it comes with high-quality materials inside. It also has an easy-to-use infotainment system and the latest safety technology. The 2019 model shuffles around some of the available features but carries over mainly unchanged from the 2018 model. Say hello to the 2019 Jeep Compass.

The Models

The 2019 Compass comes in four different trim levels. The Sport is at the base of the lineup with 16-inch wheels, while the Latitude upgrades to larger wheels and adds some higher-end interior materials and the option for several packages. This midlevel trim also adds cornering fog lights and comes standard with automatic headlights. Choose the Limited for 18-inch wheels, and most of the optional equipment for the Latitude comes standard. A sunroof is an available option depending on the trim along with a power liftgate and xenon headlights.

The Trailhawk

The Trailhawk is the off-road Compass and comes with 17-inch wheels with off-road tires, a raised suspension, red tow hooks, and skid plates. It also adds a matte-black hood accent. It features Jeep’s Active Drive Low four-wheel-drive system, has an off-road suspension, and five traction control settings so you can choose from Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock.

The Power

All the Compass models come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive comes standard with all-wheel drive offered as an option on all models except the Trailhawk where it comes standard. All models h nave a six-speed manual transmission and have the option of either a six-speed or nine-speed automatic.

The Technology

Standard technology in the Compass starts with a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker stereo. The Latitude offers the option for an 8.4-inch touch screen with built-in navigation and a nine-speaker Beats stereo system, and this comes standard in the Limited.

The Safety Features

All the Compass trims come standard with a rearview camera. Add the Safety and Security Group to the Latitude or above for adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and mitigation, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning with an intervention system. Rear parking sensors are also available, and you can add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The Interior

The 2019 Compass has an upscale cabin designed similarly to the Cherokee. It has comfortable seats both up front and in the back, and the rear seat passengers have plenty of leg and headroom. The Latitude has simulated leather upholstery, keyless ignition, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the Limited adds automatic dual-zone climate control and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It also comes with a heated steering wheel and leather upholstery.

The 2019 Jeep Compass provides a smooth on-road ride and excellent off-road capabilities. You can take it places other small crossovers can’t go and feel confident that the Compass will tackle almost any terrain with ease.
